Nike accompanies the release of the new-gen Superfly 9 and Vapor 15 with a Special Edition launch. Called the Zoom Mercurial ‘Disruption,’ the boot emphasises what’s new with the Mercurials and the expectation that it is one of Nike’s game-changing drops in the football boot industry. The colourway, in particular, seeks to showcase the Nike patented technology set to perform again on the pitch. New Superfly 9 arrives with Air Zoom technology, a combination of the Next Nature & the Air Zoom Mercurial teaser launched a few months back.

Mercurial is and has always been a game changer. It’s the most relevant football boot ever and now Nike are bringing the creativity of Air back into Football. The Special Edition Air Zoom Merc partners the underfoot cushion technology with the high-quality and functional Flyknit upper that remains one of the best materials in knitted football boots.
The narrow profile means Air Zoom Mercurial maintains the traditional tight-fitting boot experience. Soleplate-wise, the boot has a glossy finish with a white rearfoot plate and an iridescent forefoot structure. Air Zoom itself is quite visible due to the translucent window on the front plate.

Disruption Mercurial opts for a clean white base, a perfect canvass for the black Nike Swoosh and the featured design. The said eye-catching graphic is an ‘AIR’ branding stylised into an ‘M’ outline, then filled with a repeating micropattern of red ‘Mercurial’ logos.
Such aesthetic obviously represents the merging of some of Nike’s popular outputs into one. Last seen on the Nike Zoom Air Total 90 III, the technology returns to with the Nike Air Zoom Mercurial redesigned from the pitch up to give football’s fastest boot the propulsive boost of Zoom Air for an extra burst of speed when you need it most.
As hinted in the Vapor Next Nature, the Disruption contains at least 20% recycled content, in line with the brand’s intention of scaling up sustainability in its boot production. Merc poster boy CR7 himself headlines the boot, so be sure to show your support by getting a pair of these.
