Nike Release the Thunder Pack

Dean Ariola

Recent months have seen both the Mercurial and the Tiempo get the special release treatment. The Nike speed silo has the Mbappe Baltic Blue signature while the Swoosh heritage boot take on the Touch of Class and Prototype. We now have one for the Phantom GX right before we end 2023. Following the likes of the Link and the Blaze, the Phantom GX and Luna Thunder boots are now released.

There’s no denying the source design with the name of this special GX release. The main highlight of the boot is the quarter, which is adorned by a striking visualisation of thunders. The graphics are clearer in terms of representing the inspiration, compared to earlier special GX launches. GX Thunder does have that vibe seen from the Puma Elements Pack.

Besides the Thunder graphic, the boot has a noticeable purple predominance and its two-tone application separating the Gripknit and the tongue. The dark, almost blacked out shade of the Swoosh pops through with a white outline. A slight golden iridescence on the soleplate finishes off the look of the GX Thunder.

The Phantom Luna, on the other hand, applies a clear, one-tone purple shade from heel to toe of the upper. But just like in the GX, the Thunder theme pops out from the rear. A mist springs from the heel and spreads to the quarter (more so on the lateral side than the other), where a quiver of lightning finishes of the white visual design.
