Chosen 2 Mbappe Superfly

Blake Grice

A truly ‘Mercurial’ release both in a literal and figurative sense is now out from Nike as the Superfly 7 launches with a colourway design produced by a collaboration between Lebron James and Kylian Mbappe. The latest Superfly look is called the ‘Chosen 2’ and follows up the joint projects of basketball and football such as Jordan-PSG kits/lifestyle products and the Neymar-Jordan Hypervenoms.

The initials K and M are joint together in a green abstract design spreading out through the black Flyknit upper in a repetitive pattern. From afar, the colour interaction successfully reproduces the lustre of anthracite coal. The Swooshes on both the medial and lateral sides have horizontally and vertically inverted ones beneath them. The ones on top have micro Mercurial logos while the ones below have a dotted graphics. All have a red and purple colour transition. The collar, integrated tongue, and lacing are black, though the laces themselves contain gold dots across them. The rear of the upper covering the heel area is shiny purple, and each boot displays the respective logos of the two superstars-crown on the left boot for LBJ and Mbappe’s very own symbol on the right.

The split tooling has a chrome surface, with the rear plate going full green while the front one has an even vertical division between silver and green. The chevron studs within the green soles have iridescent details surrounding them.

Lastly, the insoles also contain design elements inspired by the theme of the colourway. The left one has a full-court graphic with one half for basketball and the other side for football. The right insole has a wonderfully crafted anagram of the names Lebron and Kylian.
