Black Boots

Dean Ariola

Black is simply timeless. With all the colour schemes available now, traditional black football boots still hold their own as stylish, sensible and easy to look after. Amidst today’s loud, hyper-coloured landscape, black still does it’s job well. They were good enough for Pele, they’ll be good enough for you too.

What You’ll Find On This Page:

Black is modest and arrogant at the same time…

-Yohji Yamamoto

Whether it’s the primary colour, or in the detailing, black is the low key, but no less threatening option. The colour many say all football boots should be, whether you believe that too or are just being made to wear black, here they all are, perhaps you can get away with a touch of colour?

Nike Shadow Pairs

Besides specific black releases, Nike usually provides black ‘Shadow’ options for its football silos. This allows anyone who prefer black to have his colour option available regardless of the time of the year. In 2025, Shadow carried out Ice Blue accents that contrasted well with the dark base. Nike decided to include the Tiempo Maestro with its release a year later. We expect Nike though to regularly update their Shadow Packs and introduce different accent colours in the future.

adidas Stealth Boots

The latest adidas black pack, dubbed Immortal DNA, applied the classic Predator colours of black, red and white across all its silos for that timeless, iconic look. The Copa Pure 4 arguably had the cleanest execution, having a black glossy sheen on its leather and white Stripes plus a red pinstripe design on either side. On the other hand, the Predator 2026 and the F50 utilised a hint of grey on their respective toe texturing to express a bespoke pattern (snakeskin for the former and checkered flag-like for the latter).

Puma Eclipse Options

Puma’s latest black collection saw the Future impressed a Glowing Red accent on its bespoke swirl design, Wildcat logo outline and stud tips. It kind of reminded of the Neymar Future Batman that was launched as part of the 2022 movie’s promotion. The same shade of red accented the Ultra through the outline logos and outsole. Where the black pack deviated was with the King, which opted to have white on its Formstrip and soleplate. It also had touches of gold on the minute brandings and on the detailing of the upper edge of the classic Puma livery.

Other Black Choices

adidas Copa Mundial

One of the granddads of leather football boots is going strong to this date and for good reason. The Copa Mundial still has one, if not the best quality of leather you can have in a pair of football boots. You choose the Copa Mundial because you want to go all in on that exquisite comfort. Granted that it does have some issues now like overstretching, water uptake and generic fitting, the Copa Mundial is able to find a home in modern football, usually being worn by coaches and referees. At the moment, this is one of the permanent black options that stays year-in, year-out.

Tekela v5 and 442 v3 from New Balance Live Wire Pack

New Balance dressed their Tekela v5 and 442 v3 with one of the timeless colour combination in black and yellow. More importantly was that the former was the predominant look, with yellow providing the accent around the logos. The Tekela had this added haze of red for its forefoot microtexturing, while the 442 further expressed the pack’s electric theme through the iridescent mould with the letter branding.
