For its opening black collection for 2023/24, New Balance look up and go way past our planet in search of inspiration to make the release distinct from other black packs. We’re guessing it did not take them long to appreciate the vastness of space and that its dark wilderness isn’t pitch black at all. So New Balance launch the ‘Beyond Orbit’ pack that includes the Tekelas, Furon and 442 in a blackout look that looks to glimmer a little bit of colour under the spotlight.
‘Own Now‘ already delivered the surprise launch of the ‘Tekela Low,’ so Beyond Orbit gives us the first black release of such model. But whether you go for the Furon or the Tekelas, you get a New Balance black pair that does have a purplish iridescence to its dark colourway, on top of having this animalistic print around the quarter part of the boots. Displaying further the space-like influence, a series of circles on the heel shows what looks like a lunar eclipse motion. The silverish outlines and fill of the brandings mellow down in tone to be in harmony with the overall theme.
But if you think you’ve seen this colourway before, we believe you are not mistaken. Because the Beyond Orbit Pack, at least when it comes to the Furon and the Tekelas, has that colourway vibe that we’ve seen from the First Edition Tekela V3+ launched in 2021. We can tell you’re a fan of New Balance boots if you managed to catch that!
Things slightly change on the 442, where the emphasis seems to be on the iridescence. It’s akin to getting that bit of visual manifestations of those invisible rays and forces active in outer space. That purplish slip of the Beyond Orbit is at its clearest on this leather boot, which has its outsole exhibit the gloss and shimmer of fine, crude oil.
