Nike Launch the MDS 007

The Mercurial Dream Speed series is going strong as Nike launch the 7th iteration of the MDS boots. Over the years, the series has gone on to include the Vapor and Kids versions, as well as expanding the core wearers from the exclusive group of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe and Sam Kerr to include other rising football stars. However, CR7 remains to be a significant name for the Mercurial silo, and like all the previous 6 models, MDS007 pays tribute to another chapter of the Portuguese superstar.

MDS 007 is all about the intensity and the peak of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Red Devil career in 2008/09. It also recalls the moments CR7 wore the fiery Sport Red with Gold Mercurial Vapor IV during his Manchester United stint. The latest Dream Speed reflects all these through the predominance of crimson, which shades dark on the forefoot and tongue before lightening up towards an orange-like tone around the quarter.

Through the dynamic interplay of contrast, a ribbed visual subtly overlays the upper in graphic terms. But apart from the Pale Ivory Swoosh boldly outlines in black, the defining design element of the MDS 007 is the abstract pattern of Xs and Os. A wide variety of application can be observed on the said pattern, which contains a mix of solid-filleds, outlines, random spacing and differently coloured based on the themes of this MDS release. Capping off the look is the MDS letter mark sitting proudly with the lighter crimson on the medial side.
