Nike Dream Speed 5

Dean Ariola

CR7 leads selected Nike stars in wearing the fifth edition of the Mercurial Dream Speed series. The MDS005 is the second one to be released in the Superfly 8, while it is the third time to include other stars not named Ronaldo and Mbappe.

The base of the colourway (clearly seen on the rear and Flyknit collar and tongue) is Barely Green and is aptly labelled, as the shade looks white at first glance. Filling up the upper is a striping pattern that starts purple around the midfoot before transitioning to turquoise towards the toe box.

Overlaying the said stripes are the lateral blocked arch designs, which are mint green with volt arching stripes in this boot. The said volt details form a ‘target’ effect as they combine on the outsole.

The aesthetics of the MDS005 include a very dark blue-green Swoosh outline smack on the medial side and another relatively bigger one covering the toe box up to the lateral side. A volt Swoosh positioned within the primary Swoosh adds another layer of Nike branding, completed by the Nike and Mercurial logos on the circular underlays with connected strips around the heel.

The main Aerotrak frame has a volt-turquoise-blue colour combination encompassing the rear, spine, and forefoot. The inner structure is dark purple, and the supporting interconnected studs are turquoise once again. MDS005 is also retailed in the Vapor format.
