Black Nike Renew Boots

Ian Ebbs

Nike’s ‘Renew Pack’ is the first blackout Swoosh collection to feature 2021’s all new-gen Mercurials, Phantoms, and Tiempo, providing the silos with a timeless colourway that expresses, above all else, focus and toughness on the pitch. It follows the Black x Prism pack released at the tail end of winter 2021.

The black base colour of the boots in this drop gives off a deep contrast to the sky blue applications of the Swoosh logos, which are either outlines or solid colour-filled ones depending on the silo. Other details, like the new Phantom GT strip visuals and the off-sync Swoosh overlap on the Mercs, use a shade of grey officially called ‘Iron Grey.’

The colour combination of black and blue is reminiscent of the Under the Radar paint job of the Tiempo 8 and the Wavelength Mercurials and Phantom VSN, less the glossy and sparkling finish.

The ‘Renew Pack’ is not due for a wide release among the Swoosh brand’s roster of football stars. With that said, the inclusion of the GT2 and Tiempo 9 alongside the concept of black boots being synonymous with Academy players, the ‘Black Pack’ offers a refreshing take on humble football beginnings and is sure to draw in a fair amount of football boot consumers.
