It was just a month ago when Nike packed the Hypervenom III and Flyknit Ultra into one in what could be a tease of the Phantom’s future. Turns out we are getting a second round of such boot, released now with a different colourway. Reflecting the spirit of the OG Ultra, the first Phantom Ultra incorporated the predominantly black look with orange accents from the Swoosh outline and the Hyperreactive outsole itself.
The second Phantom Ultra special simply changes the accent colour to hot pink. Everything else remains like the black base and the iridescent glow from the tooling.
Minus the iridescence on the Hyperreactive outsole, the black/pink combination bears some semblance to the alternate launch colourway of the first Phantom GT 1. On-feet, this special Phantom boots arguably has a better fitting feel and comfort due to the central laces and the less-stiff internal liner backing the Flyknit upper base.
Also relative to the current Phantoms, the foam pods are slightly more effective in providing that ball grip. It’s also surprising to note that the Phantom Ultra weighs lighter than the present Phantom GTs considering the gap in age.
