Nike gives the leader of the Parisians another signature Superfly to wear for the rest of the opening phase of the 2023/24 season. It is surely one of the many signatures to come for Kylian Mbappe, given his elevated status not just for his club but also for the Swoosh company. As it stands, Nike salivates at the privilege having him and Erling Haaland extend their on-pitch rivalry into an intrabrand one. For now, though, the French striker is the one to get a dedicated boot release.
Blue Mbappe Comic Superly
Nike looks at the sunshined Baltic sea for the shade of the predominantly blue colourway of the Mbappe Baltic, giving the star his first pair of signatures that rock the said colour. The said base is akin to a sky blue added with a pinch of cyan. This gives it enough brightness to contrast with the other design elements of the boot.
Included in those elements are the royal blue lines that make up the comic page gutter appearances on the heel and the diagonal striping on the forefoot. However, all of these are overshadowed by the bold, 3D-stylised ‘ZOOM’ branding in white with highlights of yellow and black, plus the Swoosh overlay that has a gradient ‘Sundial’ yellow fill. The bordering on the Nike logo is increased to also give it a 3D-appearance.
Mbappe Mercurial Vapor Blue Boots
A cleaner, straightforward application of the blue and yellow appears on the soleplate, specifically on the Zoom Air frame and window, respectively. Mbappe’s lettermark, which follows the font style of the ‘ZOOM’ wordmark, signs off the boot on the quarter towards the heel.
