adidas Gold Messi Boots

Dean Ariola

adidas released a stunning gold F50 adiZeros for Lionel Messi after the Argentine led his country to a runner’s up finish in 2014. Fast forward eight years later, the three Stripes brand are giving their superstar another pair of golden shoes that shows the evolution of both the player and the adidas speed silo over the years. Meet the Messi Mi Historia boots…

Now wearing the X Speedflow, Lionel Messi has the current Solar Gold boots in the laced .1 version. The colourway leans more on the yellow side relative to the more orangey finish of the former boot, though a bit of the original shade remains on the lip of the toe box. The texts and brandings are scaled-down and limited to the sides of the boot, unlike the previous signature’s bold ones that also act like an all-over pattern.

Whereas the 2014 version only has black on the stripes, the 2022 edition features more of the secondary colour through the Primeknit tongue and collar, plus the rear and inserts of the Carbitex Speedframe.
The quarter of the upper shows an understated collection of words that are special to Lionel Messi, such as ‘Familia,’ ‘Respeto,’ Aficion,’ and ‘Nosotros, which mean ‘family’, ‘respect’, ‘fans’, and ‘we’ respectively. Meanwhile, Messi’s logo features prominently on the back of the heel, and subtly on the front around the toe box.

The 2022 Solar Gold Messi boots are available in firm ground, turf and indoor outsoles, both in top-end .1 tier. For a cheaper grass alternative, adidas have made the Mi Historia available in the laced .3 model. Despite obviously having cheaper materials, the .3’s looks and graphics remain faithful to that of the .1 FG model as worn by Messi.
