Who Should Buy WeFoot?
Buy it if: you already know what you want from a grip sock. WeFoot’s thin construction and strong dual-sided grip make it particularly well suited to snug or low-volume boots, where adding a bulky sock can make an already close fit uncomfortable. In my testing the compression felt secure, there was very little bunching, and the offset internal and external grip pads helped avoid the feeling of individual grip elements pressing through the sock. That combination is the main reason I rate WeFoot so highly for players who want strong grip without adding much bulk inside the boot.
Think twice if: heel lockdown is your main problem, since WeFoot’s grip doesn’t extend up the heel. It’s also a relatively premium option, so if you’re buying your first pair of grip socks mainly to find out whether they work for you, Gain The Edge is a lower-cost way in. And if you want a more versatile all-round sock rather than a thin profile built specifically for snug boots, it’s worth comparing WeFoot with our current all-round pick, the AdvantEdge Pro 2.0.
How The Grip System Works
WeFoot describes this as a biometric non-slip solution (Patent No. 10-1686547), the IN WE FOOT Non-Slip System, applied both inside and outside the sock to help keep the foot, sock and boot from sliding against each other. According to WeFoot, this performance holds up without significant loss from moisture such as sweat, unlike standard non-slip treatments.
How Are The Socks Made?
WeFoot describes the sock’s construction as follows:
BIOMAXⓇ FIBER
Helps absorbs sweat from the skin at a rapid rate to maintain optimum body temperature regardless of season.
Mesh Material
The breathable fabric, keeps your feet ventilated, keeping your feet comfortable and cool during games
Arch Support Structure
A rubber-like structure surrounding the soles of the feet keeps the socks from rotating when worn and provides a functional arch support structure.
LYCRA Rubber and Spane Shield
Used in the cuff and leg of the sock, a diamond pattern aids the compressive effect and the LYCRA is more durable compared to regular rubber, the Invista original Lycra Rubber has no change in elasticity and less change in quality, combined with the Lycra Spandex fibres to maintain a comfortable fit from the sock for a long period of time.
Shock-Relieving Cushioning
WeFoot says the sock’s cushioned structure gives a comfortable feeling both putting them on and during play, and that it reduces impact and fatigue on the knees and ankles across sporting activities including football. This is WeFoot’s description of the cushioning, not an effect we have independently measured.
Why Are They So Comfortable?
- The wefoot socks are double padded, thin and asymmetric, so they feel great on feet & not too thick giving a good foot to boot connection.
- Whilst normal non-slip socks use silicone materials which are normally 1500-2000µm, these socks are a few times thinner at around 400µm
- With its micro cell technology, they maintain their grip even in wet conditions (either from water or when there is lots of sweat from your feet), performing better than silicone-based competitor non-slip socks
- With its own patented heat compression technology, the pads last much longer after several washing
- Widely used in other professional sports such as cycling, running, golf etc
- It is not just used by several national footballers who played at the World Cup like Son, but also they are used by professional footballers in Serie A through a partnership with Empoli
Wefoot Sock Technical Information & Research
We’ve worn and tested these football socks ourselves (see Final Thoughts below for our own hands-on impressions). The figures below are WeFoot’s own manufacturer testing claims, which we have not independently verified:
Vertical ground reaction force enhancement
The strength or power with which the ground pushes against us when we step or stand on it. It’s like when the ground pushes back at us when we jump or run
- 15% increase in muscle efficiency
- 59% increase in non-slip fit on both sides
- 62% increase in socks grip
Reduced impact compared to general sports socks
- 57% reduction in impact generated on the inner wall of the side of the shoe
- 1.59 times Anti-skid effect (static condition)
- WeFoot describes this as helping mitigate shock; we can’t confirm an injury-prevention effect from these figures alone
Final Thoughts
I find Wefoot as simply being up there in terms of being the grippiest in the business. One improvement that I can think of for Wefoot is that they can increase the grip pads to go up the heel. Since some of the issues with boots involve heel lockdown, having grips at the back of the heel can definitely make a difference. I believe it’s something the brand should think about.
One of the things I really like is how Wefoot harmonised the placement of the positioning of the grips on the inside with those on the outside. What this means is that the gaps on the grid-like formation represented where the pads on the opposite side are placed. The effect here is that I feel less pressure points and as if I just have one overall underfoot pad.
I didn’t experience that much bunching, and that is because the fit and compression is above-average. And what also wows me is that material used for the collar. That is really pleasant to the touch and does maintain its shape. Size-wise, they do offer small, medium and large, and they have a size guide that can help you determine which one to pick.
Plus shipping, they’re definitely a bit pricey than regular socks. If you’re going to spend anyways, there’s certainly more value for money if you are going to order their bundles rather than just a single pair.

- Best for: players who already know they want a close, boot-like feel and don’t mind paying more for it
Gain The Edge

- Fit: standard silicone grip pattern, generic (non-anatomical) shape, wide colour range
- Best for: new to grip socks, or want the cheapest way to try the format
Gain The Edge is the cheapest way into grip socks, with a genuinely wide colour range and a working code. WeFoot costs more but its thinner, snugger construction is built for players who already know they want a closer boot feel rather than the lowest price. Neither is the wrong choice, it depends what stage you’re at — see the full grip socks comparison.
