Cristiano Ronaldo wears the Nike Mercurial. That has been true his whole career, but what the Mercurial means has changed three times, and in 2026 it has changed again. For the World Cup he opened with the Superfly 11 from Nike’s Breakout pack, and for the first time since 2022 he has his own signature boot to go with it: the Gold Scorpion Superfly 11. Nike also paid tribute to him being the one and only player to score in six World Cup tournaments with a special throwback boot.
Ronaldo has never just worn what Nike handed him. He cuts collars down, drifts to the low-cut boot the rest of the roster leaves to the wingers, and has shaped his own signature lines down to the fit. This page covers what he is wearing right now, why his choices are unusual, and every signature pair he has worn on the way here.

Ronaldo’s 2026 World Cup Boots
This is Ronaldo’s sixth World Cup, a record no outfield player has reached, and Nike has built the moment around him. He opened the tournament in the Mercurial Superfly 11 from the Breakout pack. For the games that follow he has something no one else in the pack gets: two pairs of his own boots, one for the current generation and one for the RGN series, his first signatures since 2022.

Gold Scorpion · collared speed
The boot the whole Nike roster is in this summer, pink, white and black so it reads on camera. Ronaldo opened the World Cup in it, collar cut lower than standard the way he has always had it, free at the ankle for the spring into a header.
He played the rest of the tournament with his signature Superfly 11 that was draped in gold and featured the popular Nike scorpion design, a throwback to the iconic 2002 Secret Tournament. His C-badge that was also present in his 2018 Chapter 6 boots appeared on the tip of the tongue and on the Zoom Air window.
Gold Scorpion launched exclusively on the SNKRS app in limited quantities.

Gold signature · for the games ahead
Nike brought back the original 2009 Superfly 1, the boot Ronaldo first made famous, in metallic gold with the old Flywire cables on show and a modern Vapor soleplate underneath. CR7 branding on the heel.
Why gold, and why the original Superfly 1: the boot Nike chose to bring back is the one Ronaldo first made famous, so the tribute is not just a colour. It points back to the United winger who wore the first Superfly and forward to the player still starting World Cups seventeen years later.

How Ronaldo Actually Chooses His Boots
Most players wear the boot they are given in the trim it comes in. Ronaldo does not, and the way he deviates tells you what he values once the whistle goes.
The collar
He wants the ankle free
His Superfly pairs are built with the Dynamic Fit collar lower than the standard release, and when Nike sent him the white Mad Ready Superfly he cut the collar off it entirely. For a player whose game lives on the spring into a header and the explosive first step, a high collar is something he would rather not feel.
Superfly or Vapor
He drifts to the low cut
Through his Saudi years he increasingly chose the low-cut Vapor over the collared Superfly the headline roster wore. The Vapor is the lighter, lower, more direct boot, built around the first two yards rather than the wrap around the ankle. It is the choice of a forward whose work has moved closer to the box.
The fit
He shapes his own boot
Going back to the early NikeID days Ronaldo has customised his boots, and Nike folded those preferences into his signature lines, from the lower collar to the personal touches on the Dream Speed and CR7 editions. His signature boots are not his name on a stock pair, they are built to how he likes a boot to sit.

The Signature Lines

Ronaldo, Nike and the Number 7
Born in Funchal on the island of Madeira, Portugal, Ronaldo’s football journey began with local clubs Andorinha and Nacional before he moved to Lisbon at the age of 12 to join the renowned academy of Sporting CP. He quickly attracted attention from Europe’s biggest clubs, leading to a move to Manchester United in 2003. It was at Manchester United that Ronaldo inherited the iconic number 7 shirt, a jersey previously worn by club legends, beginning his lifelong association with the number and the globally recognized “CR7” brand that would become synonymous with his success. Alongside his rise on the pitch, Ronaldo forged a longstanding partnership with Nike, becoming one of the brand’s most recognizable athletes and the face of multiple generations of Mercurial football boots. His influence and global appeal led to a lifetime agreement with Nike, placing him among an elite group of athletes associated with the company.
Ronaldo’s career continued with trophy-laden spells at Real Madrid and Juventus, where he broke goalscoring records and won league titles in Spain and Italy before returning to Manchester United in 2021. In 2023, he embarked on a new chapter by joining Al Nassr FC, a move that helped raise the global profile of the Saudi Pro League while adding another milestone to his remarkable career. Internationally, Ronaldo has captained the Portugal national football team to victories at UEFA Euro 2016 and the 2019 UEFA Nations League Finals. In 2021, he became the highest goalscorer in men’s international football history, surpassing the long-standing record and setting a benchmark that further cemented his status as one of the game’s all-time greats. With five Ballon d’Or awards, hundreds of goals, and records spanning more than two decades at the highest level, his legacy is defined by excellence, longevity, and an unmatched drive to succeed.
