Harry Kane’s Boots

Dean Ariola

Harry Kane boots history currently involves the Skechers SKX 01, after previously wearing the Nike Phantom GX, which were introduced ahead of the 2022 World Cup Quarterfinals to replace the Phantom GT. Most of the people behind the Skechers SKX were also involved in the development of the Nike Phantom GT, so suffice to say that Kane’s silo was created with competent football boot makers.

Gold SKX 01

It was a golden night for Harry Kane after his 100th cap for England. Not only did the Three Lions win, he also scored the brace that sealed it for his country. The performance was made even more captivating by his special pair of gold SKX 01. Kane is no stranger to gold boots, but to wear a pair and play well on a milestone match is still something to behold.

SKX-01 Evolution Pack

For the latter part of the 2024 Euro and up to the return to domestic football, Kane switched up to the Evolution Pack. Here, his favoured SKX-01 had a bright, neon-like yellow colourway overlaid with a reptilian skin graphic in silver. The S logo contrasted well in black and with a reddish outline. The same shade of red dotted on the soleplate though the stud tips.

After wearing the breezy Diamond Ice, Kane went on to debut his silver with green SKX-01 against Arsenal in the 2023/24 UCL quarterfinals second leg. The boots had a winning on-pitch launch as Kane and company progressed to the semifinals.

Diamond Ice SKX 01

That pair of white boots with icy blue gloss that Kane was wearing was the knitted Skechers football boot from the brand’s Diamond Ice pack. It was indeed a perfect pairing, concept-wise, to partner an ice-cool striker with a pair that is functional and aesthetically matches his goalscoring profile.

Harry’s Skechers Deal

In August 2023, Kane announced that he would wear Skechers football boots, shortly after his arrival in Munich to play for his new team Bayern. He has been seen wearing mystery black out boots in preseason and a white pair with the date 17 08 23 on his arrival in Germany. He shortly after announced he would wear the Skechers SKX 01.

What Black Out Boots Is Kane Wearing?

In pre-season training for the 23/24 season, Harry Kane has beeen spotted in a unique black pair of boots, are they a new Nike boot or something new entirely? Take a look at the photos and see for yourself, either way an exciting release for the England captain.

From what we can see, the sole looks like a responsive ultra-lightweight TPU cushioning, whilst the upper appears designed to assist with precise ball control, layered on to a lightweight knit for a precise fit and secure lock down.

To mark Harry becoming England’s all time leading goalscorer with 54 goals, Nike have revealed a pair of Phantom GX for him to wear in England’s next game vs Ukraine. The white boots contain a collection of colourful imagery, words and shapes, including “all time top scorer” and “captain”.

There are also tributes to Kane’s three children; “Vivi”, “Ivy” and “Louis” is written on the sides of the boots along with their dates of birth. Kane 54 is cleverly used in gold on the heels of the boots, where you would normally see the Phantom GX branding.

Nike Blast Pack Phantom GX

At the start of 2023, Kane switched to the player-wide release of the GX from the Nike Blast Pack. The light shade of sky blue on the Gripknit and the way it pressed against the white quarter just looks so inviting, and somehow represented the soft and gentle fit of the silo. Hidden within the friendly aura of the Blast GX, however, was that sticky grip that aided ball control (a marginal advantage that can make a clinical finisher like Kane even more on target).

Pink Disruption GX

Phantom GX Launch

Kane formed part of the England nationals who debuted the latest Phantom Generation in the middle of the 2022 World Cup knockout rounds. The launch model was called ‘Disruption,’ and it was in a lot of ways. Aside from the unusual timing of the release, the booming Hyper Pink contrasts significantly against the black and copper of the outgoing Phantom GT in the Generation Pack (though the small copper Swooshes indicated a connection of some sort to the said World Cup pack). The actual tech, Nike’s Gripknit, covered by the striking colourway also offered a challenge to the dominance of the adidas Predator in the control department-offering just the right amount of grip while maintaining the softness and thinness of the upper.

Kane turned into a playmaker in the winter World Cup wearing the black with copper World Cup pack Generation Phantoms. The matte-look on the upper was partnered with a Hyperquick soleplate in full gloss of the accent colour. Such colourway reflected the coveted silverware that even the greatest players in the game have difficulty winning.

A stunning Shockwave design hits the Phantom GT2 with these green boots, paired with a black upper, on the 2nd generation design for the GT. The Phantoms come in the sock and low version, as well as pro, club and turf variations.

Harry Kane received a special pair of Phantom GT from Nike, to celebrate his Premier League’s Golden Boot and Playmaker awards in the 2021/22 season. The white, blue, gold Phantom GT include three golden boot logos, with the seasons 15/16, 16/17 and now 20/21 inscribed.

Out of this world, or perhaps of this world if we are Planet Football, these Mercurial and Phantom boots are for the likes of Hazard and Kane, the Terra Pack takes it’s cues from the Earth.

What’s Kane Wearing?

Harry Kane previously wore the Phantom Venom which was the power boot among the Nike silos, back when the Phantom was split into two. The Phantom Venom assisted Kane by providing a comfortable sock-like sensation through its very thin, multi-textured, and multilayered Flyknit upper. The VNM had a soft honeycomb toe box that has a waxy matte texture for added ball grip and positioned thirteen slightly raised ridges, increasing in length from top to bottom, on the top of the instep to give more power and precision to strikes. An elastic cover on the bottom half of the laces, made the striking surface larger and the Hyperreactive outsole was made of nylon with chevron studs on the outer part, providing both stability and traction. The soleplate also had multidirectional Pebax linings for flexibility, allowing Kane to be more agile when going to spaces.

Harry Kane has come a long way to become one of the greatest English strikers of his generation. While his desire for self-improvement was noticeable, his football career during his younger days saw him getting released and/or rejected by various youth academies due to lack of athleticism. It took him two attempts to be able to join Tottenham which remains to be his team up to the present moment. As he was lagging in pace and height during his youth, he initially performed a holding midfielder role. He then slowly transitioned to a more attacking role and ultimately to the striker position as he developed both his physical and athletic attributes. He ultimately impressed in the 2014-2015 season which saw him awarded as the PFA Young Player of the Year. His accomplishments spilt to both 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons, winning the Premier League Golden Boot award in both instances. He also has a Golden Boot award for the 2018 FIFA World Cup which made him the first English top scorer since Gary Lineker in 1986. He recently led Tottenham Hotspur to a runner up finish in the 2018-2019 Champions League.

Kane is much admired for his goal-scoring threat from both feet and his aerial ability. However, his goal-scoring opportunities also stem from the fact that he can move into the tightest of spaces and make the most of it. He is also able to do link up plays in deep aside from his hold up play up front. At both Tottenham and England, he is the first choice striker, a great indicator of how well his finishing rate is.

On the 4th of February 2018, Nike has released the Special Edition Hypervenom 3 HK to celebrate the striker’s 100th Premier League goal. The Hypervenom 3 HK features a white and blue upper with Gold swooshes but most importantly, it has a gold ‘100’ branding on the heel and also a gold ‘Keep it Kane’ wording at the insole. In the same year on September 7, Nike has acknowledged Kane’s Golden Boot award for the 2018 world cup by featuring an all gold Hypervenom 3 with the English logo appearing on the side right below the collar.
