Boot production and design have taken off in the past twenty years due to new technologies and innovations seen implemented by the world's best football boot brands including Nike, adidas and Puma. Old classic boots featured leather materials and in this day of age synthetics and lighter materials have been introduced creating more comfortable, efficient football boots.
In the late 90s Nike were one of the leaders in innovation where they installed the Nike Mercurial R9 football boot specifically designed for the Brazilian legend Ronaldo featuring a new never seen before carbon fibre soleplate and vibrant colourway designs setting the benchmark for football boots. adidas produced a single monolayer synthetic upper seen on the F50 adiZero making the boots incredibly lightweight and Puma produced the trademark King range with its lightweight premium quality leather incarnations re-introducing boots of the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Boot production has evolved rapidly with new boots designed for different purposes including for different surface types such as astro-turf, firm ground or soft ground and for different weather conditions whether it be wet or dry.
