Future Lab 2

Ian Ebbs

Injected with green T90 vibes for the Phantoms and paired with clean white Mercurials, Nike have followed up the laser crimson-heavy Future Lab pack with the all-new Future Lab II. From the Lab part two presents 2 primary colourways and consistent with this binary concept is the fact that only the Mercurial and Phantom twins are included in the pack. The Mercurials are predominantly clean-looking white with black and laser crimson red applications, while the Phantoms are presented in a flashy green strike colourway.

Going into the specifics of the Mercurial colourway, the white Flyknit upper (where the white dynamic fit collar in Superfly 7 is connected to) houses the laser crimson red symbols Nike swoosh on the lateral and the ‘MERC’ branding and strip on the medial. The Future Lab II Mercurial retains the black pixel-like graphic that starts heavily on the lower edge of the sides of the boot and scatters lightly to the back and outsole parts. The split soleplates are white and the transparent chevron studs house an internal black structure. Completing the new colourway getup is the application of red shading on the Aerotrac spine and the small Swoosh on the forefoot plate.

With echos of the classic T90 Laser II Electric Green, everything on the multi textured silicon layer of the Phantom Venom’s Flyknit upper, from the honeycombed forefoot to the backside of the boot and including the Ghost lace cover, is beaming with its green strike colourway and serves as the contrast to the black applications on the 13 strike fins and the lateral’s swoosh that is outlined with red. The Hyper Reactive soleplate is black and houses dark blue studs in this case, with the Pebax multidirectional lining blending with the green strike theme of the Phantom Venom Future Lab II.

The Phantom Vision 2 showcases the green strike theme on the four-quadrant Hyper screen on the forefront as well as on the perforations of the Ghost lacing cover. The conicals also has the green strike shadings. The Ghost lacing cover, the dynamic fit circular knit collar, backside padding, and the Hyper position soleplate all go in black. Wrapping up the Future Lab II colourway of the Phantom Vision 2 is the black-outlined metallic platinum swoosh on the outstep. Techwise, the Mercurial siblings and the Phantom duo all retain the technologies that make them stand out in the market.
