Italy’s Gianluigi Buffon wears the Puma King!

Juventus and Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon marked his record breaking 136th cap with a specialised pair of Puma Kings football boots.

Streamed on twitter was Buffon’s Kings’ boasted the “136 caps” text and “Buffon” on the embroidery as he equalled Fabio Cannavaro’s Italian appearance record in a 2-1 win against Czech Republic. The win also meant that the nation would qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil next year.

Buffon

Buffon was an avid endorser of the Puma PowerCat 1 boot but it seems he has switched to the heritage silo by Puma. He follows fellow Juventus team mate Giorgio Chiellini in switching to the King 2013 boot. Buffon will look to further extend his appearance record as he will be the number one goalkeeper at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Buffon played in the successful 2006 FIFA World Cup where his nation beat France in the final on penalties. Italy also played in the recent 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup where they finished third place after losing 7-6 on penalties against Spain in the semi-finals.
