Robbie Keane’s unique Nike boots for his 100th international appearance

It was a very special occasion for all players on Wednesday 11 August 2010 when the Republic of Ireland faced off against Argentine players like Messi and Higuaín. However, the occasion was much more special for Robbie Keane, who celebrated his cap number 100 in the famous green shirt.

To commemorate this special occasion, Nike have kitted out their man with a bespoke pair of Total 90 Laser III football boots . . . custom Nike iDs featuring unique personalisation and having features that set them apart by paying a tribute to national colours.

First of all, this T90 Laser III comes in an Electric Green colour, incorporating also touches of Orange and White to turn the boots into a tribute to the Irish flag.

Some very special pieces of embroidery can be seen. On the outside of the right boot is the ‘100th CAP’ embroidery. Moreover, the left boot features the name of Keane’s son ‘ROBERT’ and his date of birth ’10-05-09′ on the outside, and the customary number 10 together with the Irish flag on the inside.

Notice that there is a mixed stud sole-plate as well as a custom firm ground plate for this boot, ensuring that Keane plays in these boots whatever the weather is like.

The skipper became only the fourth Republic of Ireland player to win 100 caps as he lined up for the 1 – 0 loss in controversial circumstances at the new Aviva Stadium.
