We just came across this news story and well if we had got the site live by then we would have posted it then but unfortunately we hadn’t and it was in development stages. However we still feel that we should post it in case it happens again.
Legend boxer Ricky Porter is hoping to send hundreds of pairs of boots to Africa to let them play football in them.
He has appealed to football clubs both local and Sunday league in the Swindon area to donate all unused football boots to him in order for him to send them out to Ghana. The aim is that all the boots which children no longer use in England and that stay in an old cupboard for years till they are thrown out will now be used by African children who cannot afford boots.
Porter has commented that the kids often grow out of boots really fast and therefore he is more than happy to take them off their hands.
Legend Ricky Porter was at his peak in his career ranked number 7 in the world but has now spent time helping people in Ghana via the charity Sonibron Educational Trust. Each year since 05 he has helped fill a container with things that help Ghanaian people such as kits, books and more.
People in Ghana love football and play it all the time, to own a pair of football boots is something wished on by all and it seems to make sense when we all have old pairs that we never use to send them to people who will.
If he decides to send another shipload of football boots we will be more than happy to post again on here and feature a link on our homepage so as many people can send him their old boots and make a difference.
