Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II unveiled

Global manufacturers Nike have revealed images of their new Mercurial Vapor Superfly II boot that was recently launched at a media event at Battersea, London.

Former World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo was on hand for the unveiling after spending months collaborating with Nike over the making of the boots. The manufacturers also spent time gaining the views of Alexandre Pato and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in order to perfect the design.

Ronaldo said: “For me, it’s all about first-step acceleration, but twisting and turning around a defender is also important. The Mercurial Vapor Superfly II helps me do both, so I can beat my opponent and create scoring opportunities.”

The Superfly II will be available for pre order on the 22nd March 2010 and will retail on the 1st April for around £275.

The main specification of the boot was to provide a close fit that enabled durability whilst allowing dynamic first step acceleration. Nike Flywire technology was incorperated into the boot’s upper to provide a lightweight and strong fit.

The boots also contain Nike Sense adaptive traction technology which allows players to adjust their studs in direction by 3mm depending on the pitch and weather conditions. Directionally positioned blades maximise a quick change of direction whilst secondary toe traction provides added push off power for the first steps.

More information is expected to be revealed as the boots are reviewed over the coming weeks!
