When the Nike Mercurial Vapors were released for the first time in 2002, Thierry Henry was one of the first superstars to pounce on a boot deal with Nike to wear the model. They suited him perfectly, as they were built for speed. And Henry was at the forefront of Nike’s advertising campaign, and almost became an ambassador for the boots when he modeled the latest colours in matches. The Vapors were built for speed, so the design was kept simple and the boots were kept light.

In 2006, however, Thierry Henry left Nike to sign a deal with Reebok. The Pro Rage range, just like Nike’s Vapors, were also designed for maximum speed. Although arguably not as stylish as his previous boots, the Pro Rages involved a hidden lace system, which provided the player with maximum space for striking the ball cleanly. It was also confirmed by Reebok that the Frenchman’s boots were slightly modified from the retail products, to suit his individual requirements.

Reebok Pro Rage Boots
Henry was to remain with Reebok right through until his current pair. Although, when the brand brought out the Sprintfit range, Thierry converted to those. Although still majorly focusing on the speed element, the Sprintfits are suposedly the best lightweight boots for all-round performance. Weighing in at 274g, the boots are also built to protect the foot. Undoubtedly though, where ever Thierry Henry has turned for his football boots, he has become a symbol for the brand.
